Seminar Topics:

Entrepreneurship

This class explains entrepreneurship and discuss its importance. It covers the three main reasons people decide to become entrepreneurs. It identifies the four main characteristics of successful entrepreneurs, and explains five common myths regarding entrepreneurship. Finally, it explores the entrepreneurial process and the business plan.

Social Media for Small Business

Are your online efforts reaching your target markets? Social Media Basics For Your Business reviews different social media websites and what they have to offer for your business. The seminar also discusses social media marketing strategies for effectively reaching your target markets.

Budget & Recordkeeping

Included in this session: The fundamentals of budgeting and recordkeeping, methods to facilitate bookkeeping, intro to cash flow planning and financing, and managing your money for a successful business.

Human Resource Management for Small Business

Good business practices start when the business starts. Small businesses may not need a full-time Human Resources (HR) professional, but once there are employees, good HR practices should begin. From the initial hiring, to handling performance and conduct issues, small business can benefit from a professional approach to managing their employees. Learn the basics, to protect your company and create a successful work environment.

Marketing For Small Business

This session will be an introduction to marketing fundamentals. Topics will include definition of target markets, market segmentation strategies, and variables. Includes developing pricing and promotion strategies.

Business Owner’s Insurance

This session will discuss insurance plans specific to small business owners. Topics include General Liability with a discussion of products, completed business operations, catastrophe insurance (umbrella), and business, automobile, and NYS insurance compensation laws. Learn how to protect your assets.

Taxes and the Small Business

Topics will include 5 forms of business structure: proprietorship, partnership, corporation, s-corp and limited liability. Also covered: tax issues in each form, documentation and bookkeeping requirements, and tax consequences related to each.

Leadership: Employee and Self-Motivation

Topics include how to be an effective leader, team building, assertiveness, and effective communicating. Overcoming work anxiety, and prioritizing tasks/goals are also be discussed.
